Service to Community

There is a saying that Teaching how to fish is better than gifting a fish

Our community service programme was launched along this line.

Helping our brothers and sisters from Government schools who may not have access to computers is the goal of this programme.

As part of this programme we adopt a govt school and teach the students of 9th std the basics of a computer. This year we are teaching the students from Ayyasamy Iyer High School which is near our campus.

An introdution to Computers and GNU / Linux operating system, Using Office softwares, GIMP and Handling Internet, E-mail are just some of the basic know-how we help them to learn. Each student is provided with individual system and practice is given to them. Office bearers of CSMIT and Volunteers from MIT accompany school students during the session.

This occupies all saturdays of the month. Refreshments are provided to school students during each session.

At the end of the activity, we provide an educational kit which consists of school bag, books about the basics of computers and stationaries. This may be greatly helpful for them to continue further in computer learning.
